Consumers will now have more choice and firms in the industry have to adjust prices to compete. If prices start to fall as a result, profit levels start to shrink. The process will continue until the market becomes saturated. Some firms will barely survive in this competitive setting and may leave the industry. Equally, it is likely that other firms and businesses will be looking to develop new and better products and services that will make this product obsolete, and so the whole process starts again.
